Rosh Pina was first settled in 1878 and re-founded in 1882 by about thirty families from Romania. In 1899 it opened the first Hebrew-language school in the Galilee.
Its restored old colony, with the Baron Rothschild gardens planted in 1886, sits on the eastern slopes of Mount Canaan below Tzfat, looking over the Hula Valley to the Golan and Mount Hermon.
